Biography

The Quebec City-based sextet was formed around the core membership of brothers Jean-Philippe (keyboards) and Keven Bessette (drums) in September 2002. Worth Dying For was the just and rightful evolution of former formative musical endeavours. Longtime partner-in-crime Alexandre Fisette (guitars) joined at this very time and the line-up was completed with the addition of Frederic Blais on guitars, Vincent Genest on bass and Guillaume Jolicoeur on vocals. Quickly storming the lively underground scene of Quebec, a first line-up change occurs with the arrival of vocalist Raphaël Giroux, whose scenic talents quickly became one of the band most interesting features.

Then came 2004 and the departure of founding member Frederic Blais. The now vacant slot on guitars was filled by one Marc Villeneuve who carried the band in a period of self-examination and experimentations on many different genres. Such fusions ended in the recording of a first self-produced demo, Waiting For The Last Sacrifice.

The demo fell in the hands of some indie Rock/Metal radio stations around the province of Quebec, and even around the world, where the interesting mixture of Progressive Metal and Hardcore garnered the attention of some DJs. The album managed to score some respectable places amongst the top 10s of those stations. Seemingly on a steady stride towards gaining some important street-cred, local label Neverland Records picked up the band for a one-album contract in the summer of 2005.

All that the band had built up in those 2 and a half years however came to a resounding crash when, in late 2005, Genest, Villeneuve and Giroux called it quits. To top it off, Neverland Records went bankrupt and the band came to a creative standstill. Back to square one, the three founding members quickly recruited Vincent Bourgouin (bass) and Jonathan Tremblay (guitars). Both musicians proved to be tremendous additions to the line-up, as they brought with them impressive résumés and many years of experience.

Even though the name was the same, the spirit was now a different thing altogether and this line-up overhauled the band's former incarnations compositions, now clearly more focused on brewing a very unique blend of Progressive Death Metal, clearly influenced by bands of the Swedish Melodic Death Metal scene (In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork), American Heavy Metal (Killswitch Engage, Unearth, Lamb Of God) and some very heartfelt nods to Progressive Metal pioneers Dream Theater and Opeth.  The band embarked on a search for a singer, which has proven to be quite the hard task. A rapid-fire succession of singers came and gone, with the notable stint of Kevin Pettinella, now at the helm of popular locals Approached By A God. The line-up was completed in November 2006, with the addition of a young singer, Alexandre Tremblay (vocals).

In 2008, some 5 years flew by and the band can finally present the fruit of their labour in the form of their first album, Of Glorious Remains, which was self-produced by the band, engineered by keyboardist Jean-Philippe Bessette. Hardships remain in their path, but determination and effort overcame the many deceptions before and now, full-steam ahead, the machine won't be easily stopped again.
